Why Did Ellen DeGeneres Leave America? Here's Why People Think She "Fled" The Country
Ellen DeGeneres has left America for rural England, but social media users believe she "fled" to avoid prosecution.
Ellen DeGeneres and her wife, Portia de Rossi, are reportedly leaving the U.S. after President-elect Donald Trump’s victory.
Sources have told The Wrap that the couple has relocated to the Cotswolds in England following the sale of their multimillion-dollar home in Montecito, California, in August. However, while some reports suggest she left because of Trump, many speculate that there might be another reason behind her departure.
One theory circulating on social media suggests the TV personality had close ties to hip-hop mogul Sean "Diddy" Combs, who is facing serious allegations of racketeering and sex trafficking. In 2016, DeGeneres posted a birthday message for Diddy. Is her move to the UK related to his ongoing legal battles? A source close to Hollywood insiders has suggested that Diddy may have recorded "sordid secrets" during his infamous parties, leading people to believe that DeGeneres might be worried about what could come to light during his trial.
A tweet from @iamyesyouareno added to the theory, pointing to an old post from DeGeneres on X (formerly Twitter) in 2016 where she wished P. Diddy a happy birthday, writing, "Happy birthday, P Diddy, Puff Daddy, Sean Combs, or as I call him, Cuddle McSnugglestuff. You don’t need to know why." Weird.
Others believe that DeGeneres was involved in Epstein’s circle and point out that the backdrop of her show closely resembles the blue and white striped building on his infamous island.
In addition to the speculation about her past with the disgraced rapper, there are suspicions about the death of DeGeneres’ ex-girlfriend, Anne Heche. "Anyone remember the suspicious death of her girlfriend Anne Heche—who came back alive after being put in a body bag? Or what about her ties to Diddy, Epstein, and all the other child trafficking situations?" said @weenywaney. Heche died after her car crashed into a house and then burst into flames on August 5, 2022. Heche starred in Girl In Room 13, a movie inspired by the real-life events of human sex trafficking.
Commentator Terrence K. Williams added, "Ellen is running from Justice," stating that he has "reason to believe Ellen is running from the Law" because she is "best friends with Diddy and his crew."
DeGeneres has also been embroiled in controversy in recent years, particularly after allegations surfaced in 2020 of a toxic workplace environment on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. Reports of sexual misconduct and harassment by top executives prompted Warner Bros. to conduct an internal investigation. DeGeneres addressed the issue in her Netflix standup special For Your Approval, where she claimed she had been “kicked out of show business” due to the scandal.
In her apology letter, DeGeneres said, "On day one of our show, I told everyone in our first meeting that ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show‘ would be a place of happiness — no one would ever raise their voice, and everyone would be treated with respect. Obviously, something changed, and I am disappointed to learn that this has not been the case."
She continued, "I could not have the success I’ve had without all of your contributions. My name is on the show and everything we do and I take responsibility for that. Alongside Warner Bros., we immediately began an internal investigation and we are taking steps, together, to correct the issues."
