Trump Signs Executive Order To Stop Anti-Christian Bias After Biden Administration Targeted Religious Groups
In a move to uphold religious freedom, President Donald Trump signed an executive order establishing a task force dedicated to eradicating anti-Christian bias within the federal government.

This initiative highlights the administration's commitment to ensuring that Christians can practice their faith without fear of discrimination or persecution.
The newly formed task force, led by Attorney General Pam Bondi, is mandated to identify and eliminate any form of anti-Christian targeting across federal agencies, including the Department of Justice, the Internal Revenue Service, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
"The mission of this task force will be to immediately halt all forms of anti-Christian targeting and discrimination within the federal government," President Trump stated during the National Prayer Breakfast. Trump also highlighted the case of Paulette Harlow, a 75-year-old pro-life advocate who was sentenced to two years in prison for her involvement in a 2020 protest at a Washington, D.C., abortion clinic. Harlow's two-year prison sentence for a peaceful protest serves as a stark example of anti-Christian bias within the federal government—especially when contrasted with the lenient treatment of violent BLM activists and Antifa extremists.
President Trump pardoned Harlow and 22 other pro-life activists, asserting that they had been unjustly prosecuted for their beliefs.
This executive order also calls for a comprehensive review of existing policies and practices to ensure they do not unlawfully target or discriminate against Christians. The administration has pledged to rectify any identified issues promptly, reaffirming its dedication to protecting religious liberties.
The Government's Targeting of Christians
Historically, there have been instances where federal actions have been biased against Christian groups. For example, in 2014, the implementation of Executive Order 13672 by Barack Obama, which prohibited federal contractors from discriminating based on "sexual orientation and gender identity," did not adequately protect religious exemptions and forced them to act against their beliefs.
Additionally, the Internal Revenue Service targeted conservative Christian groups during the tax-exempt status application process. In 2013, reports emerged that the IRS had subjected organizations with "Christian" in their names to increased scrutiny.
During former President Biden's tenure, several actions by his administration targeted pro-life activists and specific Christian groups. The Department of Justice under Biden charged 23 people for peaceful protests outside abortion clinics these activists faced significant legal consequences, including substantial prison sentences.
These prosecutions represent a weaponization of federal law against individuals exercising their First Amendment rights. The severity of the sentences, particularly for non-violent demonstrations, was an attempt to suppress pro-life advocacy through intimidation.
The Biden administration's Department of Education also disproportionately targeted faith-based educational institutions. A report indicated that nearly 70% of the department's enforcement actions were directed at Christian colleges and universities, despite these institutions representing a small fraction of the student population. Prominent examples include Grand Canyon University and Liberty University, which faced record-level fines and heightened scrutiny.
Democrats' Hostility Toward Religious Organizations
Beyond legal actions, there have been instances where the administration's policies undermined religious organizations. Changes in federal regulations limited the ability of faith-based groups to participate in government programs unless they conform to secular standards, thereby infringing upon their religious liberties.
President Trump's executive order aims to address such concerns by ensuring that federal agencies uphold the principles of religious freedom protected in the Constitution. By proactively seeking out and eliminating anti-Christian bias, the administration strives to create an environment where individuals can freely practice their faith without government interference.
This initiative has been met with praise from many Americans who view it as a necessary step to protect religious liberties given the growing marginalization of Christian values in public life. This executive order represents a positive move toward reaffirming the nation's commitment to religious freedom. By addressing past wrongs and implementing measures to prevent future discrimination, the administration is taking concrete steps to ensure that the rights of Christians are protected across all federal agencies.
