A study was recently shared on CBS Mornings that claimed climate change is the culprit for the rising numbers of childhood obesity. Apparently, the increasing temperatures are causing kids to stay inside and gain excess weight.

A viral tweet circulated on Saturday that showed a clip from "CBS Mornings," in which the anchors were discussing a new study about obesity rates in children in the US. Kids today are 30% less aerobically fit compared to their parents when they were the same age. The study claims this is largely due to climate change.

The journal "Temperature" released a study on the topic, and CBS Mornings discussed the details. "Fewer children are reaching the World Health Organization's recommendation of 60 minutes of exercise a day," the co-host said. "Now listen, it has been a lot hotter and the weather has been crazy." According to the study, “climate change, specifically warmer temperatures is making our children more inactive and more obese.”

When the clip went viral on Twitter, many people were quick to point to the coronavirus lockdowns and how they prevented children from being active as usual outdoors. Not to mention the standard American diet and how often processed, packaged foods are shoved onto children at a young age.

"But I also think it has to do with technology, you know?" the co-host continued. "It's one thing not to go outside, but these kids don't go outside because they could stay inside, be on their phones, play video games, and be social without having to go outside and be social."

There are many accusations that the media is only pushing this kind of twisted narrative in order to promote climate hysteria and maintain people's fear about climate change. After all, it's patently absurd to say that a summer with high temperatures would be such an influential factor in children's health, without even mentioning the modern diet and lifestyle that causes a slew of physical ailments.
