Nina Dobrev Posts Viral Video Cooking For Her Man: Are We Witnessing A Vibe Shift?

In a now-viral video that’s garnered over 4 million views, The Vampire Diaries star Nina Dobrev makes a homemade meal of chicken and a simple green salad for her fiancé, retired Olympic snowboarder Shaun White. “Join me in making a seared chicken and simple green salad for dinner,” she begins.
“Cooking just makes me so emotional,” she jokes as her eyes tear mid-shallot chop. While the chicken marinates in olive oil and seasoning, Dobrev whips up a dressing with lemon, champagne vinegar, honey, and Dijon mustard.
When she’s finished with the meal and its side dishes, she brings them to the table. “What do we think?” she asks White.
“It’s so good. You’ve outdone yourself again,” he replies.
The New Domestic Era of Celebrity
Meghan Markle is cooking, and so are Selena Gomez and Hailey Bieber. More and more celebrities are turning inward, focusing on home life and long-term love. These days, the new luxury is being in a supportive relationship and having the time (and desire) to cook meals from scratch.
For Dobrev and White, their relationship has been a slow burn with a tender middle. After a chance meeting at a Tony Robbins workshop in 2019, they became Instagram official during peak quarantine in 2020. Since then, they’ve spent less time on the scene and more time hiking, snowboarding, and building their life together.
“She really made that time in my life special,” White said in 2022, referring to how Dobrev supported him through the pandemic and his final Olympic run.
It seems that people are finally wanting to stay home and cook for someone they care about. We’re witnessing the vibe shift in Hollywood, the return to tradition. The aspirational aesthetic is about domesticity and a soft life, rather than hustling and being a girl boss.
