Men's Favorite Types Of Dresses On Women, Ranked
Does the sundress really live up to the hype or are there other dresses that men prefer on us? We asked the men in our lives to find out.
What woman doesn't love a good dress? They allow us to explore our femininity on a daily basis, they are light and comfortable to wear, and we feel confident when we look our best. Funny enough, men love dresses for some of the same reasons. After all, you’re more attractive when you feel pretty, and dresses have that effect on both parties!
But have you ever wondered about the male perspective on our favorite wardrobe pieces?
Interestingly enough, our survey revealed that men are not actually interested in super tight and revealing dresses, such as the bodycon silhouette or styles with significant cut-outs. Instead, men are more attracted to flowy, feminine silhouettes in bold, summery colors that inspire confidence in you and your body and don't leave you tugging at the neckline or hem.
After a survey of the men in our lives, we’ve ranked five different styles of dresses based on the opinions and thoughts of our boyfriends, husbands, male friends, and relatives. Ready to see how these dresses stacked up?
Fifth Place: The Maxi Dress
If you previously believed that men are only interested in short dresses, allow yourself to be surprised: Men love long dresses too! According to the men, dresses are a “reflection of how a woman feels about herself,” and the most attention is drawn when “a woman is comfortable and confident in who she is and how she dresses.” Maxi dresses are a great way to subtly strut your confidence for any occasion and in any room. The maxi dress also dominates formal wear (hello, wedding season!), and there’s nothing better than dressing up for a special night with your man!
Fourth Place: The Babydoll Dress
Simple, girly, and ultra-flattering, the babydoll dress has the “cute” effect on men. They love this style of dress in a bright color, such as pink, yellow, or blue, and they love the simple silhouette of the dress. Babydoll dresses are considered “girly and sweet” by the men in our lives, which is the cutest thing I’ve ever heard.
Third Place: The Slip Dress
Dainty and romantic in nature, the slip dress also has a place in your man’s heart! These silky smooth dresses are “classy without being over-the-top” and are often made of the same material as your favorite lingerie. Seems like a no-brainer that this one is on the list, right? The essentials are covered but not hidden, as your feminine figure is revealed as you move.
Second Place: The Milkmaid Dress
According to the men of TikTok, milkmaid dresses have the same effect on men as gray sweatpants have on women…which means you should probably add at least a few of these dresses to your wardrobe! This style of dress draws attention to your curves, cinches in your waist, and flatters every body type. The straight neckline draws attention to your cleavage while still allowing room for the imagination, and men love this feminine and alluring silhouette.
First Place: The Sundress
A round of applause for the sundress – a winner for both men and women! These flowy, summer dresses are so breathable and comfortable for the heat, but they don’t require a ton of effort to get ready. Who doesn’t love a grab-and-go look that will leave your man speechless?
Sundresses also look great on every woman and every body type. Soft materials and soft colors add to your man’s desire to touch and hold you – so make sure your next sundress purchase is soft all over.
