Hailey Bieber On Being The “American Dream” And The Peptides She's Taking
Love her or hate her, Hailey Bieber is this generation’s poster girl for aspiration: she’s married to one of the biggest pop stars, is a mother, and a successful entrepreneur.

The Rhode founder is living the American dream; she's the type of gal who gets what she wants, and in a recent conversation with Mel Ottenberg, she acknowledged as much. “I’m just a girl who knows if you want to get something done, you’ve got to go for it,” she said.
Bieber spoke candidly about motherhood and raising her son, Jack. When asked what the greatest part of being a mom was, she answered, “Just seeing this little human evolve before your eyes. They grow so fast and they change so much and there’s always so much excitement. You’re watching them experience life for the first time, so you kind of feel like you’re experiencing it that way with them.”
Now, she’s waking early to be with her son, trying not to grab her phone the instant she opens her eyes, and keeping mornings simple while making time for short workouts and family coffee. “Kids are just so yummy in the morning when they first wake up. They’re just so smushy,” she said.
Bieber, who rocks loose-fitting pants and all things leather, has taken a more minimal approach to dressing her son as well, steering away from overly designed children’s clothing in favor of something more simple. “My vibe with him is cozy and yummy and cute and simple,” she explained, describing the basic fits like oversized sweats and jeans.
As the founder of a skincare brand built around simplicity, Bieber’s approach to beauty feels closely tied to how she moves through her personal life. She certainly doesn’t frame herself as an expert, but she’s clear about what she pays attention to. And given that she’s often the face that comes to mind when we hear the term “clean girl,” it’s worth paying attention to her advice. “I know more about skincare than I know about makeup,” she said. Part of that routine includes her interest in peptides, which she speaks about with the same curiosity she brings to everything else in the beauty space.
“I love peptides. That is the base of all of Rhode’s skincare,” she said, noting that they’ve become a core part of both her brand and her personal regimen. She’s experimented with different types, from topical formulas to supplements, and even the more niche options. “There are certain peptides you can take that are really good for hair, skin, and nails,” she explained.
As long as he’s growing up in an environment at home that’s really loving and beautiful, that’s all that I can hope for.
Despite the scale of her public life and the constant attention that comes with being Justin Bieber's wife and a businesswoman, her focus remains fixed on what happens with Jack. “As long as he’s growing up in an environment at home that’s really loving and beautiful, that’s all that I can hope for,” she said.
While we only see glamorous snapshots of her vibrant life, Bieber didn’t shy away from admitting that fear plays a role in how she thinks about motherhood. “Every day. That’s probably the most anxiety I have as a parent,” she said when asked if she worries about the world her son will grow up in. “The world he’s growing up in is very, very scary and it feels so bleak, thinking about the future, with how things are going.”
The answer to her fears is faith. “I just have to close my eyes and have faith,” she said. Motherhood hasn’t slowed her down either, but it’s definitely shifted her priorities. “I definitely want more than one, but I’m taking it one at a time,” she said.
Believe it or not, Bieber’s motherhood era doesn’t feel like a reinvention so much as a natural continuation of the life she always envisioned for herself. So when Ottenberg said she gets what she wants, he wasn’t wrong. Bieber told him, “I always wanted to be married and have kids and a family from a super young age.”
