Chappell Roan Slammed For Refusing To Endorse A Candidate: "There Are Problems On Both Sides"
Chappell Roan clarifies her statement about "problems on both sides" after fueling outrage.
Breakout star Chappell Roan is facing backlash for her statement on Democrats and Conservatives. In a recent interview with The Guardian, the “Good Luck, Babe” singer revealed that she was not endorsing anyone, saying, “There’s problems on both sides.”
Social media users quickly called her out for what they saw as a “cop-out.” The drag-inspired singer also revealed she turned down an invitation to perform at a White House Pride event. “We want liberty, justice, and freedom for all," she told the crowd at Governor’s Ball festival in New York. "When you do that, that’s when I’ll come.”
“I have so many issues with our government in every way,” she told The Guardian. You may not agree with her ideology, but at least she’s willing to admit that the U.S. government is corrupt. Most celebrities would endorse Kamala Harris and hail her as a hero, even though she has failed citizens over the past four years.
Roan continued, “There are so many things that I would want to change. So I don’t feel pressured to endorse someone. There’s problems on both sides. I encourage people to use your critical thinking skills, use your vote – vote small, vote for what’s going on in your city.”
Ironically, despite her being an ally, the left has come out in full force to attack her. If you cannot follow the rules of the cult and you say anything out of line, they will ostracize you in a heartbeat. "This is about ten million times worse than Taylor Swift hugging a Trump supporter," wrote @kittygang_4ever on X/Twitter. Their tweet garnered over 145,000 likes. "'Problems on both sides' is the most cowardly uneducated and down right embarrassing thing you could possibly say about this election."
The backlash against Chappell Roan intensified, so much so that the singer felt compelled to address the storm of negative comments on TikTok. She expressed her frustrations in a new video, stating, “I have encouraged people to use critical thinking skills, learn about what they’re voting for, learn about who they’re voting for, and ask questions. Yet, it’s being completely taken out of context, per usual.”
Another user made a good point, noting that leftists were quick to criticize celebrities who supported Israel, but when Roan refused to endorse Harris for her assistance to Israel, everyone came after her. "Y'all were complaining about all these Zionist celebrities in Hollywood, but when Chappell Roan enters the fold and is openly and unapologetically anti-Zionist, y'all attack her and call her a Republican?" @scythegenderr wrote.
The lesson here is that you cannot please liberals. Ever. They will find ways to cancel you, even when you’re simply trying to voice your concerns or advocate for change, proving that no matter how much you align with their values, the moment you step outside their rigid boundaries, you become the target.
