Angelina Jolie, 47, is well-known for her philanthropic efforts across the globe, and her films often reflect her passion of raising awareness about human rights issues around the world, such as Unbroken and First They Killed My Father. Her latest film is called Without Blood, and the production company describes it as "an unforgettable fable set in the aftermath of an unidentified conflict [which] explores universal truths about war, trauma, memory, and healing."

Without Blood is based on an Italian novel of the same name, which follows the story of a young girl who has survived a family trauma. “In a farmhouse deep in the Italian countryside a horrifying act of violence occurs,” the novel’s official synopsis says. “The one family survivor from this vendetta is four-year-old Nina. And she lives only because of an extraordinary act of mercy. Many years later, as a woman in her fifties, Nina meets her childhood saviour and revisits the events of that fateful night, events which have shaped her entire life.”

Jolie told People that the book "had an impact on me as it has so many other people," and she thought it had "themes and questions" that should be discussed and explored. Salma Hayek and Demián Bichir star in the film.

Jolie's two sons are involved with the film as well. Maddox, 21, and Pax, 18, worked in the assistant director department of the film and served as liaisons between Jolie and various departments on set. Pax also worked on set when she was filming First They Killed My Father.

“We work well together,” Jolie said. “When a film crew is at its best, it feels like a big family, so it felt natural.”

Jolie is known for bringing her kids to red carpet events and including them in her life as much as possible, so it seems natural that she would also enjoy working with them on set.
