5 Summer Trends You Won’t Catch Us Dead In

Not everything you see online is worth imitating, even if some of the biggest names in culture are wearing it.

Fashion is not one-size-fits-all! From cringey influencer trends to the leftover styles from festival season, these five trends represent the worst that women’s fashion has to offer this summer.

Jelly Shoes

Ladies, honestly, are we still in elementary school? Jelly shoes are slippery, unflattering, unsupportive for your feet, and absurdly childish. While various footwear from our past are making a comeback (looking at you, feminine Mary Janes), jelly shoes are not an elevated staple in any grown woman's closet.

Fisherman Sandals

Another confusing and ugly shoe trend is the fisherman sandal. These strappy nightmares look masculine and clunky – and they definitely don’t match the aesthetic of your pretty summer dresses.

Sheer Tops, Dresses, & Pants

This one seems like a no-brainer for a “do not resuscitate,” but yes, sadly, sheer everything has been resurrected especially among influencers and reality stars. While we love breathable fabrics for the summer heat, we also want to leave something to the imagination! Opt for linen pieces instead if this trend interests you.

Micro Shorts

If you saw the online buzz surrounding Free People’s micro shorts, you likely agree with the masses – micro shorts are a mistake! Offering the same level of coverage as a swimsuit bottom or underwear, these bottoms can hardly be considered shorts…yikes!

Bermuda Shorts

On the opposite end of the spectrum, Bermuda shorts often have the same shape as your dad’s favorite pair of shorts – and not in a good way! Unflattering and boxy, these shorts don’t do anything for your feminine curves. Unless you have a tall model build, avoid these shorts and opt for a shorter style instead.

Current Trends We Love

Now that we’ve established what we won’t be wearing this season, let’s take a look at some of the cutest summer trends that we are currently obsessed with!

Mary Janes

Looking for a shoe that goes with everything? Allow me to introduce you to the Mary Jane – a classic shoe that is taking the fashion world by storm again. Need some style inspo? Don’t worry, girl, we’ve got you covered!

Boxer Shorts

The Parisian girls wore it first – bright patterns and boxer shorts are in for summer! The subtle shift from denim shorts to colorful cotton shorts adds a playful touch to your warm weather attire. What’s not to love?

Tenniscore

Hello, summer athleisure! Once you find this perfect combination of comfy and classy, you won’t want to wear anything else!

Tube Tops

Tube tops are a cute way to show off that vacation tan! Paired with linen pants, these tops add a feminine touch to your laid-back summer attire.

3D Floral Details

Want to spice up your summer basics? Add a few pieces with 3D floral details for the perfect feminine touch!

White Dresses

Summer screams LWD – little white dresses, of course! These dainty classics can be dressed up or down for daily wear all season long!

Bright Sneakers

Another trend we love this season is a bright sneaker, especially a low-top Adidas sneaker like the Gazelle or Samba. You can wear these fun shoes with anything, from maxi dresses to your go-to workout gear.

Coastal Granddaughter

And yes, it's that time of year again when you naturally gravitate toward the blue-and-white color combo! Rightfully declared the coastal granddaughter aesthetic years ago, this trend is here to stay.

Maxi Dresses

A flowy maxi dress is the star of every summer outing, especially with bows, stripes, or ruffles!
